Yahoo! (cheesy, I know.) It was cool to wake up and see my money art work on the front page of the website that literally introduced me to the world wide web.

I was overwhelmed with the flattery and collection requests. Thanks a million for that, folks. And yes, I live and work in New Mexico – not technically part of California, but close-ish. People confuse that all the time. That said, I’m not faulting the author since she’s from the UK. Manchester, Dorchester, Leicester, Worcester? It’s all England to me…

Marginal Revolution – KUAD Gallery – ARTRA

Following Baker’s Dozen 5 at Torrance Art Museum, Marginal Revolutions traveled to KUAD Galery in Istanbul.

Given the recent political unrest and public protest, it was an exciting time to be showing at KUAD Gallery. I sent two new TaxCut works – attack drones made from US Currency.

This Show was organized by the LA based art collective ARTRA, organized by my friend Max Presneil.

Ballast, Gravity, & an Oversized Head

I’ve spent the week wrestling with a 14 foot tall cheeseburger-headed politician. Today, I happy to report that I won the battle.

Many thanks to my buddy Sean Pope and his superhuman abilities to manipulate steel; the Mayor now “rests” somewhat uncomfortably straddling a 1″ square tube steel post.

Julian Schnabel – Better Director than Painter

Having finally seen The Diving Bell & the Butterfly, Julian Schnabel’s latest film, I was truly impressed. Clearly, his artistic voice is most eloquently translated in a directorial role.

Paralysis, and imprisonment in one’s own mind are two of my absolute greatest fears. Eight years ago I suffered a burst fracture of my L1 vertebra, narrowly escaping paralysis in the process.

I am thankful each day that I can go on living, breathing, feeling, touching, loving, and creating with both my mind and body.

The film is beautiful, terrifying, and inspiring – all that one could ask for from an artwork. If you haven’t seen it, the eye-closure scene alone is worth the rental fee.

Online Barter Services, and why I am a fan

I just read a blurb in the NY Times about JoeBarter.com which is an online directory of services up for barter.

I LOVE THIS. Barter is the such an old yet currently progressive idea. I barter often with friends and strangers for all sorts of services (cars/dentistry/photography/remodeling/etc/etc).

My 2 favorite things about bartering services:

1. No tax paid (i.e. no death-funding on the exchange)

2. It leaves me feeling both generous and thankful for the exchange in a way that paying for a good/service just doesn’t do for me.

So, thanks to all those traders out there. Thanks to Joe Barter, Craigslist, and anyone not afraid to offer up a trade instead of a crisp bill.
